This film's working title was Crashout. Although the film bears a 1954 copyright notice, it was not registered. This was the first film released by American Releasing Corp., which evolved into American International Film Distributing Corp. In his autobiography, producer Roger Corman states that the film was shot in nine days at a cost of fifty thousand dollars. Locations included the Jaguar Open Sports Car Race in Monterey, CA, Point Dume and Malibu, CA.
