Two vagabond couples who are leisurely traveling across the country in a small car stop at the beach to swim in the nude and then go to a deserted seashore house where one of them once spent some time. They find that the house is occupied by an eccentric writer who spurns city life. Although the writer objects to the group's staying there, he is not forceful enough to throw them out. The two women sexually taunt the man and seduce him for money which they spend on LSD and marijuana. They induce the writer, who has gradually come to accept the four people, to take some LSD. Later, while they are having lunch, the writer's snobbish fiancée arrives unexpectedly. She attacks the group's depravity, and they depart, leaving the writer to bear the brunt of her admonitions.
