Old timers in town still talk about this movie
I absolutely love this movie! First of all, Esther is gorgeous, and secondly, it was shot in my hometown, Winter Haven, Florida. Old timers in this city still talk about all the excitement when Hollywood came to town. Unfortunately, beautiful Cypress Gardens is no more, but thank God we can still see it on film when it was in its prime.

Easy to Like
This is an amazing film to watch. The colors are stunning - not to sound weird or anything, but the color of Esther Williams' skin is beautiful. All of the shows are wonderful, except for the "Ronald McDonald" one - that show was scary creepy, yikes! Poor kids. The story is only so-so and the ending is kind of blah, but it's such a great film with its' colorful wardrobe, sets, and shows, the story doesn't matter so much.
Good movie with iffy ending, saved by great cameo!
If you like Esther, you'll like the film. Van Johnson is a heel most of the movie so you don't really want to root for him. Tony Martin has one of his better roles and carries most of the music. The waterskiing scene is one of a kind and so is the water carnival. Not wanting to give away the ending, I was disappointed in the way it headed accept for being saved by one of the great cameos in a movie ever.
