  • Great animal/children's film

    This is possibly the finest film of its kind that I have seen. Tender, sensitive, elegant, and manages to provide some insight into the nature of art. Also interesting for its setting in Holland and Belgium of simpler times. A touching, serious film.

    David Ladd is convincing as the young nello daas,and Donald Crisp is always great in any film with a dog in it.The cinematography is also good,with the entire film shot on location in holland and belgium;lots of windmills and colorful flowers!
