  • Susan Hayward and Gregory Peck Star

    • Adventure
    • 12/16/12

Susan Hayward was that rare star, a box office movie queen, a sultry ssxy beauty and a great film actress. As Daryl Zanuck once said Susan Hayward is our 20 Million Dollar Star ( for that is the amount of budgets the studio had in the great redhead). As feminine and wily as Bathsheba is in the film Gregory Peck presents a mascuine sturdy David. The two stars who worked together on The Snows of Kilimanjaro were friends off the sets too, and Peck noted after Susan Hayward died that Susan Hayward was tough prfoessional and unsentimenal. That may be true, but Ms. Hayward left great movies to admire and always as a tough strong lady. I wish Susan Hayward and Gregory Peck had made a third film togehter in their later years. Both were accomplished actors of the first rank and true bona fide movie stars.

Preposterous biblical extravaganza, it is so overproduced, a gaudy production, exaggerated sets and costumes. It isn't the least bit convincing, the acting is wooden by all, even Gregory Peck. Phony and awful.
