The working title of this film was The Great Diamond Robbery. In an early outline in the Twentieth Century-Fox Produced Scripts Collection, Claire Trevor is noted for the female lead. According to Hollywood Reporter, this film was "aimed as part of the 20th Century-Fox buildup for Cesar Romero." Reviewers praised the quality of the production as an example of the studio's "B" pictures. Variety commented, "Twentieth-Fox is turning out a pretty good quality of B product and Dangerously Yours is no exception. Spending a little more than most companies, it is giving stories which are sometimes of ordinary cut such benefits as production, dress, backgrounds, care in cutting, etc. Twentieth's B producers take more time with these pictures than some do." Box Office praised the film saying, "Seldom do better pictures emerge from the 'B' division of this or any other company." Lelah Tyler, Gilbert Pollett, Jean Perry, Robert Graves, Ralph Dunn, Russ Clark, John Hamilton, Lloyd Whitlock, Harry Worth, Boyd Irwin, Carlos de Valdez and Claire DuBrey were listed in various Hollywood Reporter casting news columns as having been assigned to this film; their participation in the final film has not been confirmed. This film was not a remake of Fox 1933 film of the same title.
