  • Wonderful movie, but the message?

I agree with everyone that this is a delightful movie. But it's a story about an orphan girl, who by a stroke of luck, got a sponsor to send her to collegein America. While in America, she caught a fabulously rich but much older husband in her first term.Lived happily ever after, without her degree, of course. Is this the right message to send to college-bound women?

Yesterday, we watched "Daddy Long Legs" for the first time & thoroughlyenjoyed it. The movie was very good. Thank you Turner for keeping somany movies. I noticed that the movie showed the WALSTON COLLEGEwas in WALSTON. MASS. Was there such a real college? If not, what wasthe connection?

This movie is absolutely adorable. The romance is very passionate and the dance numbers were marvelous! Very well executed and you can really see the chemistry between Jervis and Julie. The dream scene was probably one of the best scenes in the movie. It stressed how unhappy she was without him and how desperate she was to have Jervis back, but she cant because he is too far away. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes romance and music. I would watch this movie a million times over.

I watched this last night for the first time. Though the music and dancing were fun to watch, I was disturbed about the 'love story' between an old man and such a young girl. I found it far fetched that a man of his age would know the 'slew foot' dance that the college crowd was doing. (It would be like my father knowing the 'hustle' and dancing it with my friends ... lol!) I didn't like that he had no interest in this girl at all, didn't even remember he had taken guardianship of her and brought her to America, until he sees her and then he's instantly in love with her. Although I like Fred in many movies, and his dance skills have always been fabulous, I didn't like him in this movie, or I should say that I didn't like his character in this film.

I watch every time it comes along. Fed's dancing is real dancing, should be used as a guide for dancing with the stars. The lines are light, but a nice musical.

Cute musical, nothing really outstanding about it though. Slightly above average. Leslie Caron is well cast, some great musical numbers and some rather bland ones as well.
