A Cry In The Night
I agree with Maltin's criticisms of this film, including that it is over-wrought, but Burr's talent really shows through. You actually feel sorry for him, not his kidnapping victim. It is sometimes easy to forget how talented some actors are when you are most familiar with their TV work in one role, in this case, the Perry Mason character. Comparing his work in this film, in which he is vulnerable and frightened, with the confident and tough Perry Mason, you see Burr's range and skills. Burr's acting ups my rating for the whole film.
Filme que mostra o quanto Natalie era talentosa
Este filme mostra o quanto Natalie era talentosa , bela e carismtica. Eu adorei este filme e queria ver novamente no TCM.
A Cry in the Night (1956)
- Celia Trimboli
I just watched this last night on TCM. I'd forgotten how much I liked this film. Raymond Burr is excellent. Carol Veazie as his mother is even better. I read a review that describes her character as a cross between Dame Judith Anderson and Jean Stapleton. Right on the money.
"A Cry in the Night"
Interesting film to watch as Raymond Burr plays the exact opposite of his Perry Mason character. Richard Anderson would also star later in the Mason series in its final season. Good cast, including many character actors of that era. Fun to watch police techniques of the '50's after watching CSI methods today.
