Very routine except for.....
Except for the deliciously oily and wicked performance by the "other " Scott, Zachary. Steals every shot he's in-why didn't he get more roles like this?
A new friend
I don't know what everyone else is on however I thought that this was a very entertaing picture. I really thought Zachary Scott had a pull in this picture his grimaced looks and cool manor could compare with the best of them: Kirk douglas, Clint Eastwood, John Wayne etc......The only reason that this picture didn't receive the best reward is because too much attention was applied to those mentioned actors. I loved his line "pour yourself some backbone and---shut-up!" as he lightly slapped one of his men. In my opion this picture should be upgraded to at least a 4.5 star I loved it! I have watched a lot of westerns in my life.
Fairly Typical Western
It's an okay western. It's watchable. One of my favorite parts is when Beth breaks away from Steve in the tent. Shortly after that, one of my favorite parts is when the bad guys tie a string across the road and it knocks Steve from his horse. Then, Alan Hale gets shot right in the heart with an arrow, yet he makes it all the way back to town alive by crawling (that's what the synopsis says) only to collapse after quickly warning Brett.
Chief Thundercloud brings depth to the action. Roman and the two Scotts are well matched. Excellent color and stunts.
Standard Randolph Scott Western
While this is not one of Scott's best it is worth the watching. The script ain't that great, but Scott does he usual bit of the hero getting justice in the end.
