Following the Egyptian defeat of the Syrians, Tegi, the cruel Queen Mother of Egypt, imprisons Shila, Cleopatra's Syrian daughter. Tegi forces Shila to marry her son Nemorat, the Pharoah, thereby uniting Egypt and Syria; but before the marriage is consummated, Nemorat is poisoned by his scheming uncle, Kefren. Shila, falsely accused of the crime, is sentenced to be buried alive with her husband's body. Resi, the court physician, has fallen in love with Shila and gives her a potion which induces a state simulating death. After Shila is entombed in the pyramid, Resi, aided by tomb robbers, abducts Inuni, the head pyramid architect, and forces him to lead them to the treasure-filled burial chamber. Here the greedy robbers are immured, but Inuni helps Shila and Resi to escape although he is trapped in the tomb. Kefren is unmasked as the murderer, and the two lovers flee to the desert with a passing caravan.
