Enjoyable circus intrigue, complete with insanely jealous hubby and cannibals.

Circus footage from elsewhere

Unless I am very wrong, the circus footage in the early part of Circus Queen Murder came from "Rain or Shine," (1930). And perhaps some of the later big top coverage was from ROS, too. In the Spring 2010, UCLA Hammer Archives screened both the silent and sound versions of Rain or Shine, so I had the chance to see the circus stuff twice in one evening, just a few months ago. BTW -- Rain or Shine starred Joe Cook, and maybe one day Sony/Columbia will get around to releasing them for TV and/or DVD. Very very worthwhile to see both versions at one sitting.

This is a great little movie!! Fun to see Menjou as a sleuth. Ruthelma Stevens as Colt's secretary is both brainy and attractive. She seems not to have had many good roles. Too bad!!!!!!!

Suzanne, where is your synopsis?

You mention rewriting the synopsis but I don't see it. Also, I would LOVE to get a copy of "Circus Queen Murder" as I missed it on Oct. 13 and who knows when it will air again. Please contact me and I will pay for VHS or DVD. Thanks.

Horrible synopsis

Did the person who wrote this even watch the movie?? It is so far off, it isn't even funny. I'm re-writing it for personal use, if you're interested. Meanwhile, who ever wrote this, PLEASE, watch it again, or someone else, watch it and re-write it for us TCM viewers. (I watch 2-3 TiVo'ed TCM presentations each night). I copy your schedule as soon as it comes out (3 months prior). I am a huge fan of TCM. Please consider changing this synopsis to be accurate.
