Christina, the daughter of an aged toymaker in Holland, falls in love with Jan, a young man in shining armor who rides a white horse as an advertisement for a traveling carnival. Jan stays behind when the carnival moves on, and Madame Bosman, the carnival owner, becomes jealous and has Jan unjustly arrested for embezzlement. Christina later goes to Amsterdam looking for Jan, and Madame Bosman wounds him to keep Jan and Christina apart. Christina returns home and prepares to marry another. Recovered from his injury, Jan follows her, and they are reunited.
