Ballbusters on Parade!!

That says it all. The slideshow Jack shows at the end of the picture really sums up his whole life. Completely miserable, insecure, and desperately unhappy. Really quite a depressing film and typical early '70's "message" movie that leaves the viewer saying "wow I have my problems but i'm in such better shape than all these schmucks"....you really feel much better about yourself! Garfunkel is actually quite good as an actor...was good in Catch -22 also. Ann M looks old beyond her years (intentional?) and Nicholson nails it as the guy who has everything but winds up with nothing.

As time goes by. This film just gets better. Very few films ever do that. I think this film is if the most brilliant ever made. Profound and funny with an astonishing performance by Ann-Margret.

the person that said his performance was nothing less than the shining should be exempt from voting, and cut off on booze.

Whats Up TCM?

I'm looking at the overview for "Carnal Knowledge" and see that it's scheduled to air on 2/28/13 during TCM's annual 31 Days of Oscar festival, but that there's nothing under AWARDS. During 31 Days you're supposed to be airing only films that were either nominated for or won Oscars. Either CN didn't get any nominations, or it did and you made an error in the overview. BTW, I'm both surprised and disappointed that you're not showing "Five Easy Pieces" as part of 31 Days, which I know earned both Jack Nicholson and Karen Black Oscar nominations. Can you please explain this, TCM. Bruce Reber, a loyal TCM fan since 2001.

An imaginary conversation:Mike Nichols: "Hey Jack, you'll have to do some nude love scenes with Ann-Margret."Jack Nicholson: "Where do I sign?"Mike: "Don't you want to read the script first?"Jack: "What for!"End of conversation and review!

Black Man likes this movie

I found this movie to be curiously interesting. Jack Nicholson's performance was nothing short from what performances I've seen him in dating back to "The Shining." He is and has always been a excellent actor I see who has a character trait thats uniquely his own and distinguishable. I saw his character in this movie to be player like how I am but I saw Art Garfunkel's character to be like I am too. I like this classic movie.
