  • Romance on the menu at Cafe Metropole

Loretta Young co- stared very successfully with Tyrone Power in several films in the late 1930s. Cafe Metropole is the elegant setting for a romance between the two that is both sweet and funny. It also offers the added pleasure of the wonderful Adolph Menjou as Victor, the owner /manager of the Cafe. Tyrone was at the top of his handsome youth at this time and was an accomplished light comedian--so great to see him with his on -screen sweetheart, Loretta. They had an easy chemistry and they are delicious to see together. What's more, the wonderful director/actor/screenwriter and all purpose character, Gregory Ratoff gets to fill a lot of comic space at the elegant Cafe Metropole. A lovely romantic comedy with two of the screen 's most beautiful superstars of the Golden Age of Hollywood and a great number of the very best supporting players working in the movies at the time. A classic feast.

A delightful, frothy movie starring one of the most beautiful couples in film, Tyrone Power and Loretta Young, both young and gorgeous in this comedy about a young man trying to pay off a gambling debt by convincing a young woman that he's royalty. I wish this would come out on DVD.
