    This is an over-rated dramadey, but it's also good enough entertainment. Monroe gives a performance worthy of an Oscar, and in his Oscar-nominated debut, Murray is dynamite as a misguided cowboy. Their are moments where drama & comedy clumsily collide & the story can be incoherent. Fortunately, the acting easily overshadows the story to create fine entertainment. I give it a 3.5/5.

    another overlooked gem from director LOGAN..like PICNIC, it is one of the best stage to film movies..i think the critics have never forgiven him for SOUTH PACIFIC
