According to news items in Daily Variety and Hollywood Reporter, pre-release titles were Hitting the High Spots and I Hate Horses. Universal production files at the USC Cinema-Television Library provide the production dates listed above, although some contemporary sources list the end date as January 30, 1937. Production files as give H. Bruce Humberstone co-director credit, however, only Milton Carruth was credited onscreen. According to Hollywood Reporter news items, Humberstone originally shared directorial duty with Milton Carruth, however, after contracting the flu was forced to step out and was replaced by Carruth. The production files also note that racetrack scenes were filmed on location at Santa Anita racetrack in Arcadia, and the train station scenes were filmed at Arcadia train station in CA.
