The lengthy flashback sequence in the film was footage taken from the 1947 "The Durango Kid" feature, West of Dodge City. Fred F. Sears appeared as "Henry Hardison" in both the flashback and the frame story. Bert Horswell, co-writer of Bonanza Town, also wrote the screenplay for West of Dodge City.
