It's not Lang at his best (just compare it to this director's other great noir of 1953, "The Big Heat") but it does contain one indelible image; Nat King Cole, nattily attired, seated at the piano bar of the L.A. Polynesian night club, crooning the title song, while Anne Baxter and Raymond Burr get sloshed on tropical drinks in a palm frond booth. Now that's noir!
Had the pleasure of watching this film today.Great acting,Thinner Raymond Burr than usual.Loved Richard Conte/Anne Baxter scenes.

I love this movie!!!! Also Nat King Coles song. Please play this movie again. Such a nostalgic & haunting song.
Uns dos melhores
Considero este filme uns dos melhores filmes noir , nebuloso e com clima de mistrio. Um filme em que se pode ouvir Nat King Cole cantando Blue Gardenia genial.

Your synopsis misses the film noir point of the mysterious music. It is the "Liebestod" from Wagner's Tristan and Isolde (which title one can read on the album cover if one knows it). Isolde sings it over her dying lover (killed by another). Harry plays it for his ex-girlfriend, and as it is playing, SHE kills him. The notes and intervals are played over and over in the movie. The composer obviously knew it, doubtless Anne Baxter knew it, and many in the original audience knew it. Pity you couldn't point this out to those who watch the movie but don't know the music. It adds to one's appreciation of the film and to its dark character.

Solid film noir with a fascinating plot and excellent direction by Fritz Lang. Well acted, Ann Sothern stand out. Good score, fine cinematography and well written. It's always interesting and the characters develop well throughout the story.
Great cast, incredible story...you'll want to add this one to your collection! The Blue Gardenia is a keeper to view again & again!
The Blue Gardenia

Yet another great movie by Fritz Lang.An interesting side note to this movie is that two big TV heroes are in it. Raymond Burr (Perry Mason, Ironside) and George "Superman" Reeves.
The Blue Gardenia is a great movie to watch. The cast is superb.
