Benny Goodman was one of the most popular and influential musicians of the Swing Era. His One O'Clock Jump and Swing, Swing, Swing are classics. But this film is a swing for the fences and largely a miss. Donna Reed, lovely as ever, does her best but the film is just burdened by a tired, worn-out plot. Busy musician has no time for love but eventually realizes love is important as well as music. Worth seeing for the performers (Lionel Hampton, Gene Krupa) and the music but overall well-meaning but not well-done.
