Bank Holiday fare
Battle Beneath The Earth is one of a number of movies to be watched in a spirit of nostalgia on a rainy bank holiday when you remember ,just for that moment, what it felt like to be a kid growing up in the sixties and seventies.Other examples are both Peter Cushing Doctor Who films and the three Edgar Rice Burroughs outings from the seventies. This movie defies a critical analysis and makes about as much sense as any episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea after the superior first series or any episode at all of The Man From Uncle.
Battle Beneath the Earth - Just Good Fun
Saw this movie several times many years ago. It is just a fun Saturday afternoon film. It was never meant to be "great film making", and it isn't, but if you enjoyed the science fiction of the era from which it comes you will like it. If you liked "The Green Slime" you will like this film.
Battle Beneath The Earth
An unknown classic, and it IS available on dvd. Ebay and Amazon both have it as a dvd, paired as a double feature w/Yul Brynner's "Ultimate Warrior" The copyI bought through Amazon for about 5 bucks was used but clean, no scratches. I saw this movie one time on late-nite tv when I was 12. Enjoyed it enough that the title stuck in my memory. Chock full o' cheesy, popcorn-eatin' fun! Haven't watched the Brynner movie yet but one of these rainy nights when the cable goes out...( Thank God I have a wife who tolerates my" junk-food scifi" habit!) Those of you who appreciate a good trip down memory lane, this IS worth it! Enjoy.
