Mississippi moments
- Gibbs
- 12/13/12
Walter Brennan, Buddy Ebsen and Barbara Stanwyck. What a cast! Walter Brennan is wonderful to watch and that ever so recognizable voice. Buddy Ebsen's dance routine is perfect. Barbara Stanwyck can hold her own in any Mississippi boat or town.

American Classic
- Kinsella
- 12/12/12
Great transition movie. Buddy epson's dance number is a classic. Music from a one man band. Hope the music editor got an Oscar. A VERY good American Movie that bridges, Ragtime, Hillbilly, and even a big band (8 guys). Between Ragtime and the Beverly Hillbillies. Worth wathching for history.

All Star Cast delivers an interesting study of character of lifestyle on a sandbar on the Mississippi. Newlyweds Pearl Elliott(Barbara Stanwyck) and Ernie Holley(Joel McCrea) overcome a false charge of murder aagainst the Groom due to a mistaken incident. Papa Newt Holley(Walter Brennan) wants a grand child , and does his best to keep the Newlyweds on a path to heirdom. The structure of the film centers on the lifestyles of the inhabitants and their "ways". Story meanders but the performances and chemistry help make for an enjoyable ride. Cast includes Milburn Stone.3.5 stars out of 5.

Any fan of Barbara Stanwyck will love this film. She sings & dances(first film in which she did)& she is really good! Also, what an incredible cast: Joel McCrea, Walter Brennan, Buddy Ebsen, Anthony"Tony" Martin & so many more talented actors in this gem of a movie!
