  • For Me and My Gal (1942)

Judy Garland really makes this film work. Her singing is magnificent, and there are many great songs for her to sing, including the title song. Her rendition of "After You've Gone" is particularly well done and memorable. Gene Kelly is also great, he and Garland always made a good team and had a great rapport together. Good story, the musical numbers fit into the plot well. Good choreography. It was nominated for an Academy Award for it's wonderful score.

  • GENE AND JUDY HAD GREAT ON-SCREEN CHEMISTRY!

This is a good movie with GENE on a more serious and moral note. Probably due to the fact that this was his first picture, and he hadn't yet become popular for his exuberant dancing and acting. I liked his overly-confident, cocky attitude. This type of attitude might not have worked well coming from someone else, but from GENE, it was a type of irrestible charm with a twist. The dance and musical numbers that he and Judy performed were great. GENE showed several different emotional/moral sides in this movie--buying the script to bribe Jo Hayden and break up her act with Jimmy Metclef, almost excepting an invitation to partner with Eve in her act and leave Jo, and the intentional broken hand injury to dodge the draft, then his change of heart in each situation, and his decision to rectify all the wrong choices he had made, and do the right thing; This was a very well-scripted movie. And of course, in the end, "Harry Palmer (GENE) ends up with the girl!! Wouldn't be a GENE KELLY movie if he didn't get the girl in the end huh?!!! Good movie to see--watch it!

  • Very well done

For Me and My Gal was a very well directed and acted movie. The story line is very good, with all the twists and all, and Gene Kelly makes a great screen debut while Judy Garland was perfect in it. This is actually quite a touching story and I highly recommend picking it up, very much worth it.
