the greatest gift
I saw The Greatest Gift for the first time today- it made me cry. It is so beautiful and should be shown more often. The humility and love of The Greatest Gift captures God's Heart.
I love this little short. The heart of this little Monk so captures the "attitude of gratitude" felt by true Christians who know they can never repay their Lord for what He has done for them. It is absolutely amazing to me how such a wonderful message like this one can be delivered so well in a film lasting just a few minutes. My thanks to you, TCM, for continuing to show this lovely little film.
The Greatest Gift 1940
This movie, even though it is so short in time, gets its point across very well. I fell in love this movie instantly. Amazing that it is not even listed in Edmund Gwenn's IMB or wikapeadea.
Review of 1942 short film the Greatest Gift
- Filomena Nunez
I never saw this before until today. It was so moving. You should show it more often and it doesn't need to be just during the Christmas season. The message is universal.
The Greatest Gift

Moving Christmas tale
- J.D. Hines
Although a short, this film is exceptional for its ability to move through Christmas and religious spirit. A humble gift is miraculously accepted. Indeed it is the thought that counts.
