  • Elizabeth Taylor: Intimate Portrait

Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, a British-born actress, humanitarian, entrepreneur, one of the 7th greatest film legends in modern times. Yet Intimate Portrait starts out by stating the obvious: Elizabeth Taylor is the most beautiful woman in the world. And continues 60 minutes of 'she's the most beautiful woman in the world' complete with leading men devouring Elizabeth with kisses on screen. 'Intimate Portrait' never scratches the surface of contribution to film beyond beauty and the parade of men who fawned over her. Yes, Elizabeth Taylor was beautiful. But she deserves credit for her humanitarian efforts and contribution to film along with homage to her physical attributes.

More interesting for the peek we get at the ravaged rat packer who's hosting the show (guy's 52 and looks 65) than it is for Liz, who remains blessedly elusive, as always. P.S. Looking at Vincente Minelli's relentlessly yellow sport coat I couldn't help but muse on the paradox of a man with such impeccable taste in film making looking like a mid level bookie at an English race course.

Good overview of Elizabeth's life with interviews with her mother, Rock Hudson, and others in 1975 which is interesting to see how participants dressed and looked at that time. Many shots of how beautiful she was all her life; and what kind of good, genuine person she was in comparison to the starlets of today. Many short clips of her movies, including Cleopatra.
