Betty, the willful daughter of millionaire Jonathan Brownlee, delights in pranks that keep her father in a state of constant apprehension. Mayor Peter Madison is at odds with Brownlee over political matters, and his son Jimmy is masquerading as a police officer in order to detect grafters on the force. Brownlee finally secures what he believes is evidence of the mayor's crookedness, but the documents are lost when Betty drives off in the car in which her father has left them. Unaware of Betty's identity, Jimmy arrests her for stealing the car and the papers, and then they fall in love. When Brownlee's suspicions are proved unfounded, the two men shake hands, Jimmy reveals his true identity, and all ends well.
