    I have always enjoyed this film since I was a child. And to be honest this really is a film for children of all ages, but mainly children. It is charming and sad, funny and clever, but never approaches the symbolic depth and artistic energy of its spiritual father the original King Kong. Ben Johnson is solid as always, and Robert Armstrong is around essentially playing a version of Carl Denham from King Kong. Special effects are excellent, especially the Lion/Nightclub scene and the fire at the end. Likable movie, as was the remake but not really much more than a well done minor classic. You fans of giant apes and special effects will enjoy.
