Copyright records list Cecil B. DeMille as "author", but his direct participation in the film is unlikely. Modern sources credit Oscar C. Apfel with direction and William C. de Mille and Clara Beranger as scenarists. In addition to this version, Cameo Kirby has been made twice: in 1923 by Fox, directed by John Ford and starring John Gilbert; and in 1930, also by Fox, directed by Irving Cummings and starring J. Harold Murray. (See AFI Catalog of Feature Films, 1921-30, F2.0750 and F2.0751.)
