FULL SYNOPSIS

powered by AFI

Ex-army chaplain Howard Phillips, vicar in a small English town, copes with a serious juvenile delinquency problem by developing programs for youth activities designed to keep most of the town's adolescents out of trouble. One young man, Larry Thompson, however, refuses to take any moral responsibility for the pregnancy of his girl friend; on her way home from confessing her story to Howard, she is killed in an automobile accident. Before Howard can inform Larry's family about the girl, Larry diverts their attention by falsely accusing Howard of making advances to him. Hester Peters, daughter of the former vicar, has been frustrated in her attempts to obtain Howard's love and affirms Larry's story. Howard's mother intervenes and persuades Hester to help discredit Larry, and the two women succeed in clearing Howard.
