The Hollywood Reporter review included the following comments about writer-producer-director-actor Hugo Haas: "You can criticize everything about the way he operates but you have to stand in some kind of awe for what he does, because it is often single-minded and many-talented personalities like this that keep show business going when others have retired to brood on their capital gains. Hit and Run is not the greatest picture you are likely to see, but it reportedly was brought in at a fantastically low figure and, with the names Haas has assembled, it will probably do well for what it was designed-a double bill." Actor Carl Milletaire's surname was misspelled in the onscreen credits as "Militaire." Hit and Run was the last film of actress Cleo Moore, who died in 1973. She had appeared in six earlier films for Haas.
