Rancher Ma Tuttle, who wants her top hand, Wally, for a son-in-law, is annoyed when her daughter, Norma, writes that she is engaged to Gerald Weith, a city slicker. Ma takes Wally and goes to the city to rescue Norma, who suggests they take Gerald back to the ranch. Gerald fails to adjust to the rugged western life and suggests an elopement to which Norma consents, despite her admiration for Wally. A storm overtakes Norma, Gerald, and Wally, and they seek refuge in a shack that houses a gang of rustlers. Gerald proves to be a coward, and Norma, in danger, turns instinctively to Wally. With the help of Ma and her men, the thieves are rounded up, and Gerald surrenders the girl to Wally.
