Believing his wife, Molly, to be unfaithful, a ship's captain takes his young son, Joe, and quits San Francisco. Twenty years later they return. Molly, whom Captain Dane has taught his son to hate, stows away to be with her son. Also on board is Joan Wells, daughter of a woman Dane once loved. During the trip, Mrs. Dane wins her son's love and her husband's forgiveness. Joan and Joe marry; and Captain Dane, repenting his harsh desertion, sacrifices his life during a storm to save the young couple.
