Brief Synopsis

A sports anthology telefilm featuring two classic stories from the annals of sports. "How Doc Waddems Finally Broke 100," is about a by-the-book golfer who is murdered by his golf partner. "The Heidi Bowl," is a fictitious retelling of the events of the infamous 1968 Jets-Raiders football game telec

In "How Doc Waddems Finally Broke 100," Doc Lionel Waddems is on trial for murdering his infuriating golf partner. Despite advice from his lawyer, Waddems is adamant about taking the stand to tell his side of the story. An avid practitioner of the game, Waddens has spent years honing his game in pursuit of breaking 100. On that fateful day, the goal seemed to finally be within his reach, except for the fact that Waddems chose HOward Greene for his partner. Attorney Greene, a stickler for the rules, often quoted the offical rules of golf from memory, much to Doc Waddems' chagrin and irritation, But the ball seemed to be doing Waddems' bidding; nothing or no one was going to stop him, especially not Greene. Doc Waddems was going to break 100 -- even if it killed his partner and sent him to prison for life.

In "The Heidi Bowl," in winter 1968, the New York Jets, led by quarterback Joe Namath, were making their way towards the championship in a close game against the Oakland Raiders. With 65 minutes left, and the outcome of the game still bery much in question, a network technician switched the television programming to begin airing the children's classic, "Heidi," leaving thousands of New Yorkers mystified and outraged. The characters include: Melinda, a switchboard operator at the network whose equipment can't handle the influx of viewer calls; her husband Frank, whose small get-together turns into a full-scale party; Marvin, a bookie whose personal fortune depends on the outcome of the game; Peyton, a rookie technician who caused the game to disappear; and Mr. White, the network control room supervisor.
