  • Mitchum and Kerr - Together Again

A surprisingly touching romance. Screenwriter Albert Ruben was himself a flyer in WW II, stationed at"Fairborough" (pseudonym) (with Andy Rooney, Glenn Miller, etc.) so story is partly autobiographical.Mitchum and Kerr agreed to do one more movie together (their fifth?) and both liked this story, cobbledfrom news footage of a real 40th reunion, Mr. Ruben's memories, and imagination. Co-producers AlanKing and Alan Wagner interested Columbia Pictures TV and HBO, which premiered on the 40th anniversaryof VE Day -- May, 1945.

Good enduring love story! Robert Mitchum always at his best. It is good to see him with the lovely Deborah Kerr again. They make a great film couple - even in their mature age. If it comes out on DVD - I will immediately purchase it!

Warm, emotional and tender film with all the things that probably happened to one or more of our service men during WWII. A very enjoyable film. Hope it comes out on home video so I can buy it.
