Go Ask Alice

I was already Grace Slicks biggest fan and WHITE RABBIT was my favorite song back then, but add an odd grouping of actors such as Andy Griffith and William Shatner, a fantastic soundtrack of sixties rock and roll, center it around a family being torn apart by the spreading use of recerational drugs, and you'll get GO ASK ALICE. I actually remember very little of the film, except a picnic table scene, but I do recall it was an overly dramatic version of the lives of many people I knew in the sixties and seventies. Made to steer youngsters away from taking drugs, it seemed almost humorous in places, but I suppose it did have a message. It may be more suitable to screen this movie after hours or on TCM Underground, but GO ASK ALICE should be seen by anyone who grew up partying in 1960's America.
