Modern-day Jack Robinson is a rich, privileged young man whose biggest worry is that none of the men in his family have lived beyond their 40s. Jack's father's company, which was founded generations before, is now run by his Uncle Siggy, who wants Jack to think that everything is under control. Siggy does not disclose the disturbing fact that some giant bones have been discovered on the construction site of their latest complex and that many on the company's Board of Directors fear that the company's main stock in trade -- the goose that lays golden eggs -- may be at risk.
Jack then meets a beautiful woman masquerading as a journalist who questions him about the company for an article she is writing. He decides to visit the family matriarch to get her insight on the company, both past and present, much to Siggy's dismay. When Jack meets the grand older woman, she convinces him that there is truly a curse against the family and that it is Jack's destiny to right the terrible wrong done long ago. To help him, she gives Jack a locket, a family heirloom, in which he will find the key to the family secret.
