This is a must see movie! Adrien Brody was superb, he brought to life the horrific nightmare of living through such an inhumane period of WW11.

I just saw this film for the first time and I thought it was wonderful. The acting and directing was just great and I am quite suprised this film did not win a Oscar. The twist of how his life was saved at the end would be quite unbelivable had this story not been a biography. A MUST SEE!

I cannot believe I am the only person to comment so far on this brilliant movie. It is my favorite movie, hands down. It deserved every Academy Award it won. The DVD is a great value because it has some wonderful special features. The attention to detail was superb in every aspect of movie-making: Brody's actual piano-playing and weight loss for his role, Polanski's (and other behind-the-scenes people) making sure of the authenticity of costumes and props, the search in Poland and Russia for just the right locations, and perhaps most poignantly, Polanski's own experiences with regard to the holocaust made Szpilman's incredible true story as unforgettable as it truly should be. If you haven't seen it, you MUST!!
