Fun, fun, fun!
- J. May
To this day, one of the best romantic comedies ever made. Rock Hudson nails his role as the charming playboy, who has more women chasing him than he can handle. Doris Day is fantastic as the successful, independent Jan, with Thelma Ritter as her feisty housekeeper. Tony Randall rounds out the cast as the millionaire, who is constantly pursuing the wrong women for him. The plot is humorous and light-hearted throughout, leaving anyone who watches this with a smile on their face.
Classic 1960s fun
Doris Day absolutely never fails to excel at her craft. She brings such joy to every part she plays. She is perfect in this film. Rock Hudson always impresses me much more as a comedic actor than in more serious roles. His chemistry with Doris Day jumps off the screen. Thelma Ritter is always endearing and multi-talented. I love the scene when she meets Hudson in the street and he invites her for a drink and says "I know a nice little bar around the corner." Ritter grabs him and immediately responds: "I know a better one." Later, a hungover Hudson describes the drinking in the bar: "She lost me in the vodka." Tony Randall is timeless. In some ways he really was Felix Unger. He is hilarious in this film playing a neurotic nice guy who never quite wins. This movie would never be made today. It's an early 1960s classic comedy and it deserves to remain there, without remake, because it is so much fun to watch.
at the top of his game.
tony randall may have been the joe DiMaggio of film comedy.

"Pillow Talk" is a good Doris Day comedy which won an Oscar for its screenplay with Rock Hudson sharing a phone line with Doris as the two eventually have to meet up...and in each other's arms. They don't make romantic comedies much better than this. Rock and Doris were paired up in two other romantic comedies but this one was the best. Doris won an Academy Award nomination for some neat work in this one as she was the number one actress in Hollywood from 1958 to 1964.
Pillow Talk was a turning point in Doris Day's film career.Doris shines in her only Oscar nominated role. The film itself is full of very funny lines. Its an intelligent comedy thatdoesn't take the easy way out to cause conflict by inflicting theaudience with an insipid misunderstanding. Rock Hudson is also very good as the scoundrel that ends upfalling for Doris' Jan after coming up with a scheme to seduce her. The way he fools Doris should make us despise him. Butwe don't. Tony Randall is brilliant as Hudson's neurotic friend.Thelma Ritter is an expert scene stealer, especially in the scene where she drinks Rock under the table.
A bubbly sex-comedy. Hudson is solid and Day got her only Oscar nomination for the film; Ritter was also nominated for an Oscar and Randall was nominated for a Golden Globe. Won an Oscar for it's writing, filled with wonderful dialogue and bright, intense colours. Quick-paced with some hit-or-miss jokes. I give it a 4/5.
Loved Pillow Talk
This is a very funny movie. Doris Day is great and Rock Hudson is very funny. Tony Randall and Thelma Ritter add so much to this movie. You will laugh and smile throughout the show. Watch it again to catch all the funny lines. The whole family can watch this.
Doris Day is Splendid
Doris Day justly was nominated for an Academy Award for her brilliant performance in this film from the Ross Hunter Company at Universal. Ms. Day is beautiful, sexy and wonderful in this movie that was a smash hit for all involved. Rock Hudson is the pefect foil for Ms. Day and the Hduson-Day teamwork is superb.
Pillow Talk (1959)
One of the best romantic comedies of all time, the cast is amazing. Day and Hudson have never been better, Ritter and Randall are outstanding support. This film has it all - from fabulous writing to outstanding costumes.
Who designed her clothes?
I must know who designed those outfits. Please share w/me if anyone knows.
Those clothes 2
Love Pillow, but can't take my eyes off those clothes either. Perfect.
Love this movie, but how about the clothes Doris Day wore?? Especially love that wine colored dress with the matching coat that she wore in the piano bar with RH
