Pretty Colors

The best parts of this movie are the colors and wardrobe. The women are beautiful and Dean Martin is silly cool. It's not really exciting or suspenseful or even funny really - it's more of just eye candy. Something you can watch without having to think too much while your eyes are dazzled.

released in the day & age of super(duper) spies, et al, this matt helm movie moved the movie-going audience into laughing about itself, the seriousness (and silliness) of the cold war, spies galore and all that went with the package. back in the age when the world seemed to be on the edge of being annilihated by atomic this and atomic that, along comes dean martin, in the guise of super spy matt helm, to save the day. all the audience needed was a bag of pop corn, a soft drink and a sense of humor to enjoy laughing at the movie, the plot (?) and spending a few bucks for the evening. i was one of many who did all that and more. the overall plot was weak, but who cared. the clothes and the women devine, locales outstanding, martin was at his best and in the end he saved the world, got the girl and the audience had a good time. what's not to like, really! see it again or for the first time. i promise you will not be disappointed.

America's Answer To James Bond

I have seen all of the Matt Helm films starring Dean Martin as the super suave and cool secret agent, taking on tough enemy spies, romancing every sexy woman in sight, and singing a song or two. I like Martin way more as the American version of James Bond 007 than I do James Coburn in the Flint films. My favorite Matt Helm film is probably the first in the series, "The Silencers". 007 may have had an Aston-Martin with an ejector seat, but Helm tools around in a 1965 Mercury station wagon with a rear compartment that coverts into a wet bar, which is just as cool. Could you please air all of the Helm films soon TCM-I'd like to see them again.

I have been waiting for TCM to air The Silencers. I have seen the other three Matt Helm movies. Any Matt Helm movie is good and worth watching if you like that genre. Matt rules!

Really bad film with Cyd Charise saving the day doing a dance to the opening # and then again in a nightclub. Dean Martin had class, not like Sinatra but he was good in his own way.
