A crime-drama based on actual events. Pacino won a Golden Globe and soars in the role of Frank Serpico, a plainclothes cop who rooted out corruption in the New York Police Department. The slowly-paced story and score weaken an otherwise great anti-establishment story about an outsider cop, director Lumet explored new ground in the theme of police corruption. An excellent, magnetic film. I give it a 4.5/5.

I haven't seen this film in years so I will watch tonight. I remember it being a fine film. Thank's to TCM for showing it. I'm sure the main character was not so cool as the movie depicts but it sure made for good film making.Mad magazine's title for it's spoof was "Supercool".Thank's again for this pick by TCM. Hardly an old classic but a bloody good movie.L.R.
