  • The Original Production is the BEST!

I remember watching this movie when it first aired as a mini series. The others (even the sequel) does not compare, the casting was perfect and the storyline, acting, soundtrack and even basic special effects worked well together. I am curious why this movie has not aired in a long while. I would have thought that ECM would add it to their line up especially during the Halloween timeframe. I can't even find it on DVD anywhere. Long story short, This movie is definitely a must watch for anyone that enjoys classic suspense/horror done right.

this is the most suspenseful and frightening films that I have seen. They didn't rely so much on special effects, and kept you on the edge of your seat with superb directing, acting, and storyline. The head vampire's costume/makeup was unusual (not like so many Dracula movies) and was therefore outstanding - very scary! I couldn't watch the whole ting the first time (afraid I wouldn't sleep). It was on TV again and I managed to watch it all the way through. People that I worked with said that it was too scary to watch from about half way through. from the way they ended it, everyone that I spoke to, couldn't wait for the promised sequel. It came out but was no way as suspenseful or frightening. They also made a remake. It was ok, followed Stephen King's book, but was not quite as good as the 1979 film.I hope TCM can get this into their horror - SCI-FI schedule
