  • U S Marine Band and Days of Yore

Loved this short film. Very patriotic. Something you don't see much these days. There is one short scene where the band marches by and displays the flag. I was touched to see how people in the grandstand jumped up as the flag was passing to honor it. Another thing you don't see these days. My cousin was a Marine. He died for his country in Vietnam in 1966. Seeing all these Marines in this film suddenly brought tears to my eyes. Just lucky enough to catch this one on my DVR. I know I'll be watching this one again. Thanks TCM for all these great old short films. Kat

I don't mind a little flag waving, but this short film really goes to the max with it. Short films from this era are almost always interesting, this one is, but more as a curio.

My father was a member of the band at the time that this was filmed (and for ten years following). I would love to be able to get a copy of it. I have voted for it's release to DVD. Any chance of being notified if that occurs?
