Memories of Manhattan
I enjoyed very much Mighty Manhattan, New York's Wonder City on Turner Classic Movies,on September 5th 2009.As 1949 is one of my favorite years, It was a memorable moment to see automobiles with the running boards, as well as cars from the 1920's and 1930's still on Manhattan's streets. As a child I used to enjoy climbing on the running boards of Automobiles while they were parked. As was stated in the Documentary, Manhattan was home to many ethnic peoples, and also to so many models of Automobiles.Every so often I was able to gaze upon an "old time" car which would cause me to think back to its own contemporary place in history. As a freelance Baseball historian,I would like to point out that Manhaattan was home to the New York Giants baseball team, that played in the Polo Grounds, located at West 155 Street near the Harlem River. At times people from all over the country would visit Manhattan to attend the Giant games at the Polo Grounds, as well as the visiting teams' players.
MIGHTY MANHATTAN WAS MIGHTY WONDERFUL!!!!

Mighty Manhattan 1949 Still Mighty in 2008

It was very interesting to see how Manhattan looked 60 years ago in "Mighty Manhattan, New York's wonder city" Many of the famous land marks and buildings still stand today.
