  • Fascinating

Another viewer says this is not suitable viewing now in light of today's sensitivities about whaling. Why not? Watch the whaling scenes and you will understand more about the whaling industry then and now. I recommend watching it for just that reason. It's fascinating in a very sad and gory way. It's not like this kind of footage isn't readily available.Whaling aside, this is a straightforward adventure story with an amazing cast of character actors. Highly recommended. Even better is the original novel!! The novel is Very Highly Recommended.

  • Great Whaling Picture

This picture catures actual scenes of the old Whaling Fleet Technics, although graphic and not appropriate for today's viewing (because of animal cruelty and endangered spicies acts), it brings to life the elements and dangers of Whale Catching. Alan Ladd & Joan Tetzel as the Leading actors, I was captured by Jill Bennette's performance and beauty. Jill is a natural in her acting performance and I look forward to seeing more of her Movies.
