Charming to the end. Great acting! Lovely production. This is a romance that many will find appealing. I actually own this film. Robin of Locksley is an ancestor, so I have a nice collection of Robin Hood films as my homage. Richard Harris is perfect as King Richard. He looks so noble. An interesting take on the Robin Hood legend. Audrey Hepburn, Nicol Williamson, Ian Holm and Denholm Elliott are wonderful as always. Creative with some amusing moments from the start. Even if one is not a fan, I think viewers will still find it worth watching at least once.

I have seen few movies as sad and touching as Robin and Marian. Richard Lester's pacing is pitch perfect for the times. The supporting cast, notably Robert Shaw and Ian Holm are marvelous. But the premise that 20 years could not keep the couple apart is fulfilled to the maximum. Sean Connery easily pivots to a major movie actor with this film, as his subsequent work proves. But the star will always be Audrey. She is an actor true to herself, an authentic thespian whose astounding beauty is matched by her subtle and wonderful performance. You can just look at her the whole movie and be happy. It is an exciting and wonderful story with a surprise and wonderful ending that you somehow accept as the actors do in the end. "We'll never have a day like this again, will we?," Robin asks. No and we will never have a movie this moving again either.

Exceptional art direction and cinematography, quite amazing really. The film is a little too slow moving but it is so beautiful to look at, it makes it quite watchable. Sean Connery is fine, Audrey Hepburn is surprisingly subdued. Great score, well edited. On the technical side it is outstanding. It is good, but falls short of great.
