Somewhere Over the Rainbow.....
- Graham Thomas
In my mind, one of the all-time greats. Ronald Coleman is supremely sympathetic in the lead role supported by a group of grade A character actors. This is a magical mystical premise that is at once is logical and believeable and completely fantastic, and highlights a period in history before we knew everything about everything. There is a Shangra-La, somewhere.

A stunning fantasy film from Capra. Colman is a British diplomat who along with Mitchell, Howard & Horton are brought to the mystical valley of Shangri-La, where Colman begins a romance with Wyatt. Colman leads an impressive cast, particularly Warner who earned an nomination for his supporting performance. Oscars were given for the films production design & editing, helping to adapt Hilton's story, which was refined into a simple story of peace. An impressive & spectacular film from Capra. I give it a 5/5.
Highly ambitious film

Capra may have bitten off more than he could chew with this adaptation but the result is still magnificent. Ronald Colman is excellent and his supporting cast, particularly E. Everett Horton and Thomas Mitchell, are superb.

Modern architecture is on display in this movie. A combination of the Bauhaus and Frank Lloyd Wright. Perhaps Frank Capra thought a new society would have a new architecture.

Interesting, the only American character is a woman who is a : whiner, cry baby and emotionally out of control. I think Americans will fold like a lawn chair if this recession gets any worse. Those Americans that have already folded are called Teabaggers.
A TRUE CLASSIC
THIS IS AN EXCITING MOVIE.IT IS FULL OF ADVENTURE.I AM GLAD THAT IT HAS BEEN RESTORED FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO SEE.IT IS A BRILLANT SCREENPLAY.RONALD COLEMAN IS GREAT IN THE LEAD ROLE.IT IS A TRUE CLASSIC.
Paradise on Earth
A very interesting and intriguing film. A fantastic screenplay in which I think is ahead of it's time. A plane goes down in the Tibetten Mountains and the passengers are led to a valley of paradise. Thomas Mitchell , a great character acter, makes this film a magical experience. Lost Horizon becomes a new beginnig for Ronald Colman's character. A great film that stands the test of time.
My favorite of all movies

Such a great, moving and magical story - a believeable fantasy! Does what a fine picture should - entertain and sow seeds of wonder. And Ronald Coleman too! It doesn't get better than this.

Fine cast, led by Ronald Colman, in this Frank Capra fantasy adventure. So much better than the 1973 remake!
