Stefanie Powers and Michael Callan were likely the 2 last stars created under the old Columbia contract system following mega stars Rita Hayworth, Jack Lemmon and Kim Novak. David Swift a very able director creates a wonderful story that I recall seeing as a teenager and enjoying the movie a lot. A throwbak to a more innocent and fun era. Michael Callan is great in this movie and and would go on to star at Columbia with George Peppard, Albert Finney, and Melina Mecouri in Carl Foreman'sThe Victors and in Cat Ballou with Jane Fonda among others and Stefanie would also star at Columbia in the New Interns, Die Die My Darling and one of Lana Turner's great soap operas Love Has Many Faces. I wish TCM would devote a day to Columbia Stars: Callan and Powers in The Interns and thesequel New Interns, Powers in Die Die My Darling and Love Has Many Faces, and Callan in The Victors and Cat Ballou
