Blind Alley
- Bruce Reber

I saw "Blind Alley" (1939) on TCM as part of the Summer Under The Stars tribute to Ann Dvorak Tuesday 8/9/11, and I soon realized that it was remade as "The Dark Past" in 1948 with William Holden, Lee J. Cobb and Nina Foch. Both are very good, but I give the edge to "The Dark Past" because I think the performances of Holden and Cobb are a bit better than those of Chester Morris and Ralph Bellamy in "Blind Alley".

Good and disturbing. ****

This is my first Morris film and I was impressed. I like Bellamy better in comedy but he's good here, too. Dvorak is limited but does a fine job.

A rare appearance by Dvorak in her prime.
