Far from being a turkey I loved the movie. No maybe Paul is not a romantic lead but not everyone can be one. I loved the police Captain Joseph Calleia good or bad guy he plays them well.
Glamour, danger, love and Natzis
Hedy Lamarr is breathtaking in this Natzi War time drama. She is the perfect mysterious, tortured beauty who must marry the older man who saved her from a concentration camp. (Marital torture follows later as we see her languishing alone in exquisit, flowing negligues. ) Her impossibly white hats and dresses with draping, her perfectly detailed black-red mouth and fingernails, and her jewels (obtained by her suspicious husband?) make her black hair and doe eyes even bigger and sadder as she falls in love with Paul Hereid, a freedom fighter-in Lisbon. Everyone suspects everyone in the WW11 drama. Most of the cast is familiar from Casa Blanca. The dramatic music, exotic, glamourous locations, secret societies, secret rooms, secret symbols, double identintities, sexual ovurtures, glamourous fashions, and fighting for good versus evil, make this a yummy treat to devour one scene at a time.

Hedy cannot even save this turkey. And Henreid is not a romantic character that he tries to portray.

Warner Bros. hit in the tradition of Casablanca
- Linda Montane
I love this movie typical love story of the 1940's war torn Europe. Paul Henreid and Hedy Lamarr have fantastic screen chemistry.

The Conspirators brings together three of the great character actors also appearing in Casablanca. Heddy Lamar looks fantastic and Paul Henried once again looks great fighting the fascists of Europe.
Too much like Casablanca
- bob mccarthy
The theme was too much like Casablanca and then to have at least 3 of the same lead actors was just a bit too much... Hedy was gorgeous!
