- The movie was hand-colored meaning that each frame and cell was taken and colored after being filmed. This was a very long and tedious process which delayed the release of the film. By the time the movie was ready for release, the new two-strip Technicolor which was done using a camera was ready for use. The color style/scheme of the movie was to imitate the tone, color and feel of 17th Century Renaissance paintings and not real color tones which Technicolor does.
