  This is a wonderful movie with a lot of humor. It is interesting as one of the first movies to portray the idea of rehabilitation in prisons. My father won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for this movie. And yet, it is not available. Come on, TCM Guys! Let's do it!

  While only eleven years old when I saw this one, I clearly remember enjoying it immenseley!!! The name of Stanley Kramer was still fresh in my memory, with his having produced the legendary "HIGH NOON" not long before this one...by which time I was already a sesoned film fanatic. And while Mr Kramer was not yet into directing, I have tried to get to see as many of his works as I possible could. Gilbert Roland, too, was a name familiar to me, as he was then the reigning Cisco Kid; hero of many of our Saturday morning matnmee features. Sure, they were turned out by Monogram Studios, but at that age I was not as procuction conscious as I possibly am now. While some of the finer details elude me now, I still remember the gist of the story pretty well. I found the black-and-white photography very impressive...and my only regret (apart from the fact that the film as a whole appears to have disappeared completely) is that back then I hadn't develped my "phonograpohic memory," if that's the word, for movie scores. But Dmitri Tiomkin has also contributed to "HIGH NOON;" his having written the tune for the Oscar-winning "Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darlin," that was sung by Tex Ritter. I simply hope and pray that somebody at Columbia Studios wakes up and realises what a sonderful product they have in their vaults, and press MY SIX CONVICTS onto DVD so that today's audeinces can enjoy it too! I know I'LL buya copy!
